Double Down Lighting is the home for production rentals in New York City! Double Down Lighting started renting equipment in 2007 and was officially introduced in 2009 by a young up and coming Gaffer working out of a garage. Double Down Lighting identified a need in the market for a smaller vehicle with a lift-gate. When video camera sensors started capturing a proprietary RAW format, this allowed for a greater dynamic range than what had been possible before. As a result, less light could be used, which meant less equipment could be needed. A sprinter van became the perfect solution to be crew and production friendly, while delivering all of the newest LED products and top brand name equipment that Double Down Lighting had invested in.

In 2014, Double Down Lighting moved from a small garage to a larger space. Its fleet increased from one Sprinter van to multiple vans and a box truck, with a team of five to pull off daily operations.
By the end of 2016, Double Down Lighting had increased its staff significantly, grown its inventory and fleet, and was in need of more warehouse and parking spaces. In 2017, Double Down Lighting was fully operating out of Croydon, PA (just outside Philadelphia), with additional space in Brooklyn, NY.
In 2019, Double Down Lighting made a strategic move. This move was partially based on the film and television tax incentive that was about to pass, and involved fully relocate all operations to Jersey City, New Jersey (current location).
